Supporting Risa Whitaker’s Battle With Cancer
We recently learned about a lovely young woman, Risa Whitaker, and the battle with cancer that has been suddenly thrust upon her. Risa is a graduating senior at Pioneer Heritage Academy, an enthusiastic member of the In Motion Ballroom Dance Team, and a wonderful friend to many. While the diagnosis of cancer is clear, none of the experts (including Doernbecher and John Hopkins) can figure out what kind of cancer it is or how to treat it. Right now Risa and her family need our prayers, love and support, and help with the mounting medical bills - close to $20,000 at this point.
As our way of helping, Jim Band Music is donating 1/3 of revenue from tickets sold between Saturday, May 22 and the day of our next show. This is the perfect opportunity to treat your family to the excitement of live popular music in a safe, family-friendly venue while also doing your part to help the Whitakers.

Just one week to go, and what to say to your teenagers
We are down to just one more week until our May 28 concert featuring Daniel Beck
and Jenny Jordan Frogley. Many thanks to those of you who have helped
us get posters up and notices out via additional email lists. If you
happen to spot any of those posters or see an email, drop us a line and let us know
where you saw it, so we’ll know what’s working.
Concert Poster
The other day a friend mentioned to me how much his teenagers wanted permission
to go attend a rock concert in downtown Portland. He was very reluctant,
because he knew that the atmosphere and the music would not be uplifting. He proposed
the Daniel Beck and Jenny Jordan Frogley concert as an alternative, but his kids
didn’t like that idea at all. He was in a quandary.
Here’s what I told him - sweeten the deal with an offer for dinner out before
the show and ice cream afterward - or whatever else you know will appeal to them.
(The food plus the Jim Band concert tickets will still cost less than just the tickets
and service fees at the downtown rock concert!) If you can get your
kids there, it’s almost certain they will have a great time.
Many, many times parents and young people themselves have approached me after a
show to tell me that the kids did not want to come, but the parents insisted and
the kids ended up having a fabulous time and were so glad they
came.
Music is a powerful influence in all of our lives, but especially in the lives of
our youth. If you don’t make the effort to expose your kids to
the excitement of live popular music that’s also uplifting, they will never
know it’s out there.

Announcing our next concert!
Hi everyone! After a long winter hiatus, we are back online with exciting news. Last November, at the completely sold out Jon Schmidt concerts, we presented a brief commercial featuring five new artists, and asked you to vote for your favorites.
We are very pleased to announce that your top voted artist, Daniel Beck, will be appearing in concert at Hillsboro’s lovely Venetian Theatre on Friday, May 28.

But wait, there’s more! (I always wanted to be able to do that.) Performing with Daniel will be the incomparable Jenny Jordan Frogley and a full band. This is going to be a fantastic show in a venue that everyone loves. If you are unfamiliar with these artists, think of a mashup between Josh Groban and female vocalists like Celine Dion or Kelly Clarkson and you’ll get the flavor of what this concert will be like.
At most venues you would have to pay at least $25 per ticket for entertainment of this caliber, but at Jim Band Music, we keep things affordable. Tickets are just $15 each, with a 20% discount if you buy 5 or more at one time. Not only that, but our online ticketing fees are not the $6 - $8 dollars that others charge, but just $1.50 per ticket! Our online purchasing system with print-at-home tickets makes it easy and convenient for you to get your tickets today.
So here’s the recap:

Help us plan the 2010 concert season
We had a wonderful time presenting two completely sold out performances of Jon Schmidt, and we very much appreciate your patronage. Before Jon took the stage we showed a brief video featuring music samples of 5 artists that are on our short list for our 2010 concert season. Those in attendance voted for their favorites via a feedback form.
We know that not all of our patrons could attend the Jon Schmidt concert, so we decided to put the video online, and give everyone a chance to make their preferences known. If you didn’t vote via a feedback card at the concert, just CLICK HERE to see the video and cast your votes. The survey also has a place where you can write in the names of other artists you would like to see, and gives you an opportunity to let us know how we did on our earlier shows.
We’ll leave this survey up for a couple of weeks, then we’ll tally things up and announce the results.
Stay tuned!

Only 12 more days until our November 27 Jon Schmidt concert. Demand for tickets has gone way beyond our expectations. This is exciting!

Also at the concert we are going to introduce you to 5 artists that we have never presented before, and give you a chance to tell us who you would like to see included in our 2010 season. It will be lots of fun, and will help us present the music that YOU most want to hear.

Jon Schmidt Concert Sells Out! Shall We Add a Matinee?
Wow! The early demand for tickets to the Jon Schmidt concert caught us by surprise, and we are completely sold out six weeks before the show. We are scrambling to see if it’s possible to add a matinee performance for the afternoon of Friday, Nov 27.
There are many details that have to come together to make a matinee possible, and one of the most important is knowing how many of you would want to purchase tickets at a flat rate of $10 each (no further volume discount). We can only add the matinee if a large enough demand exists.
This is where you come in: If you would attend a Nov 27, 4:00 p.m. matinee performance, please let us know right away. Send us an email ( sales@jimband.com) and provide your name and how many tickets you would want to purchase. If we are able to add the matinee performance, we will contact you and give you a chance to purchase seats before we put the tickets on sale to the general public.
Thanks for your patronage, and we look forward to hearing from you!

Jon Schmidt Tickets Now On Sale
I am pleased to announce that tickets for our 2009 Christmas concert, featuring the amazing Jon Schmidt, are now on sale. Click Get Some Tickets to get started.
In a slight break from tradition, we are holding this concert on the Friday following Thanksgiving, instead of our usual Saturday, so don’t get tripped up by the change.
Jon will be bringing with him his fantastic cellist, so you will get to hear some of the amazing mashups that he does. If you haven’t heard any of these, definitely check them out on YouTube.
Last year, when we did our Christmas show at the Venetian Theater in downtown Hillsboro, we heard nothing but high praise for this beautiful venue. We hope that you will plan on coming a little early so that you can enjoy the delicious food and beverage available in the bistro. And unlike most venues, you are welcome to bring your food into the auditorium with you. (Since the seating is not reserved this year, I highly recommend this strategy!)
The Venetian seats a maximum of 400 patrons, and when the tickets are gone …. well they’ll be gone and unless you have some, you will be sorry! So don’t delay, grab enough tickets for the family and a few friends. At only $10 a seat (with our volume discount), how can you go wrong!

All you need to do is comment below and you can have a car magnet - an ad that, as you drive around, people will stare at. WARNING: at first you will think people are staring at you. That may be true, but they are probably looking at the advertisement.

So let me know and we will hook up and get it to you.
Thanks for helping us spread the word!
